We can do no better with our description of number 60 Bank Terrace than use the words given to us by the architects about the thought process behind the design:

We have taken the traditional simple but elegant form of the cottage- a pitched roof behind a verandah- but used traditional materials in a more modern sense. The verandah floats above an unenclosed carport, which presents the traditional sense of a house on stilts from the front.

We have emulated the high living spaces of the cottages but avoided the darkness and lack of breeze that comes with the centralized spaces. Pressed metal ceilings, whose texture is beautiful under light and shadow, rather than on a darkened ceiling, are used on walls to strengthen their impact and provide a hint of a memory of the past.

The centralized outdoor space works like a bit of a plaza, the double height allows viewed to and from the rooms above increasing the feeling of interconnectedness between the spaces. Most rooms in the building have a view to this space which is great for supervision and socially for the family.

There, we couldn't have improved on that except to say that this home will be money in the bank for the lucky buyer.
